New Machine Prints Sheet of Light
htp://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/10/10/sheets.of.light.oled.ap/index.html
The future of lighting is changing and putting the ordinary laps to shame. The invention of OLED (organic light emitting diodes) is allowing the creation of sheets of light. This means that you could have lights in places that you never would have imagined having it; your windows, the walls, or just about any other place you could imagine. I personally think that this invention is going to be one that we won't see for a while because they are still figuring out how to mas-produce it for a reasonable price, but it would be amazing to see people that have luminescent wallpaper. The cost of printing will help determine the final prices and as they drop, so will the price of the lighting. Another perk to these new lights is their softer light, which a lot of developers believe will be a big hit in the photography industry. Finally, as much of the world is focused on energy saving, so is the OLED industry, as they believe the cost to light as house would decrease with the use of their products.

Plug-in electric cars set to debut in 2010
http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/wayoflife/09/24/aa,plug.in.hybrids/index/html
Thanks the Lord that there is finally a date for electric cars to hit the market. In January of 2007, the chairman of General Motors announced that the release of the Chevy Volt, a plug-in electrical car would be ready for the market sometime in 2010. I think that this is a long time coming, and for many reasons believe that if it were not for the big business oil companies this would be old news. Many of the large car companies are struggling due to the outrageous gas prices, as are the consumers. This invention is win, win. The Chevy Volt, much like other projected plug-in cars rely on a lithium-ion battery. It will only require a 6-hour charge (which is probably going to be when you are sleeping) to run for an average of 40 miles a day. This would be amazing considering on average I would never drive that much in a day, and thus would be using ZERO gas! I hope that this projection does not hit any "speed-bumps" because I am personally tired of spending half of my pay-checks on gas.
MashUp Assignment:
http://guerillaradio.net/
For this assignment I searched on mashupawards.com and found this site. It is very interesting especially if you are a music lover. The site searches a database of music from Blip.fm, and puts together a playlist of any artist searched. Along with the music, it also returns several images and linked files about the artist that you chose. I really enjoyed how the website was set up, and I think that it is a great tool for anyone trying to find the most up to date information on an artist because not only do you get a chance to listen to their current recordings, but imagery and background information is also provided. It also provides similar artists to your search so you can constantly expand your iTunes!

Users Protest, Defend Facebook Face-Lift
Someone hold the phone!! Facebook is changed, and people are panicking! Wow. We all are very familiar with the social network site Facebook, and we are all aware of the changes to the site. However, to find that this is the opening article on CNN's tech page is a little ridiculous, and I think that people just need to calm down a little bit. Every site needs to make changes and improvements to stay at the top of the game. Granted, it is a little frustrating to have to get used to the new format, but at the same time I don't think people will even remember the old Facebook in a month. Close to 100 million people worldwide are now networking through the site so I don't think that it is going to be disappearing anytime soon, no matter how upset people get.

Users Are Tossing Their Landlines Overboard
Time are changing in the ways of communication, and telephone companies are taking a hit because of it. This particular article talked about how more and more people are cutting costs by getting rid of their land line due to the increasing use of personal cell phones. Personally, I can relate to this because we just got rid of the land line at my house back home, and I can't think of one person that I know on campus that has a house phone. A friend and I were just discussing how we could remember using the old school phones. A long cord that you could wrap yourself in, to phones that you could lose in your pocket is quite a change. I personally think that our generation will not use landlines and will become more and more dependent on cell phones and the Internet to communicate.

"CIA/FBI push 'Facebook for Spies'"
I found this particular article to be very interesting for a number of reasons. For starters, much like this website, people are using the web to socially connect and post information more and more each day. The government didn't let this new trend go without consideration because as of September 22nd, 16 U.S. intelligence agencies are connected through a website called "A-Space". The purpose of this website is to allow different government officials to share information within an online community. I think that this is interesting and somewhat humorous to think about a bunch of CIA agents checking up on their wall posts everyday, but at the same time I'm sure that information is being spread much faster than ever. The internet is becoming the dominant way to communicate for our generation, and it was only a matter of time before the government jumped on board.
